Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III, Queen Mother of the Kwahu Traditional Council, has recounted her experience after being abducted by some unknown individuals and later released in Abetifi, Eastern Region, on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The Queen Mother was reportedly picked up in a dawn raid at the Kwahu Palace and detained for several hours. She was released following an order by the Inspector-General of Police, who directed that an investigation into the matter be conducted.
Speaking to the media after her release on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, she alleged that the destooled chief, Eugene Kwasi Boadi Asante, formerly known under the stool name Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, was behind the incident.
“He and his driver attempted to collect our car, but we refused. I knew Boadi was involved,” she said.

According to Nana Gyemfua III, the confrontation escalated when Kwasi Boadi’s driver tried to take the car keys from her.
“Kwasi Boadi’s driver wanted to take the car keys from me, but I refused. So they deflated the tyres of the vehicle to prevent us from moving out. They ransacked the vehicle, and I still don’t understand why,” Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III added.
She further recounted that her request to access the palace for her medication and keys was denied.
“When we got to the palace junction, they told me they were calling the police officer who led the team for me to speak with because I needed to access the palace to take my drugs and keys, but he declined my request,” she narrated.
Nana Gyemfua III added that she tried to seek help during the ordeal.
“I called Nana Achemfour to narrate the incident to him, but the officers still did not allow me to go for my keys.”
She also described her clothing situation after the incident:
“The dress I am wearing now is the one my child bought for me the previous night, because the clothes I was picked up in were very dirty. My child asked someone to get me another one,” she explained.
Watch as Kwahumanhene sits on the ground, daring police to arrest him
Speaking on the issue of the Kwahumanhene, Nana Gyemfua III said, “They asked for his whereabouts, and I told them he was in Accra. Before I completed my statement, I saw Daasebre coming barefoot, wearing just a singlet. He had been restrained so roughly that the shorts he was wearing were torn from behind. I asked him why he was barefoot and without a shirt, and he explained that the police had taken them. I accepted his response, but we kept waiting for someone to come forward and say something, yet no one did.”
Her account reportedly sparked heated exchanges among some chiefs in a video shared by adomfmonline.com.
Amid the rising tension, Nana Kwasi Opoku Minta II appealed for calm, stressing that the Inspector-General of Police had assured them of a full-scale investigation.
He expressed optimism that peace would prevail as authorities probe the matter, urging unity and patience within the traditional council and the wider community.
