Ace journalist, Kwaku Baako Jnr, has said the opposition New Patriotic Party requires “a new leadership response" to deal with the wrangling that has hit the party.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, the new executives of the NPP have entangled themselves in a “comedy of error” that will lead to a "reputational" damage of the party.

The Danquah-Busia tradition has been rocked with confusion following a directive by its General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, instructing the acting communications director, Perry Okudzeto, to proceed on leave.

Some supporters believe the new leadership led by Paul Afoko is deliberately targeting party officials who are suspected loyalists to the NPP's two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Commenting on the development, Baako said although he personally campaigned for the election of Agyepong and Afoko as leaders of the party, their recent actions and decisions have left him disappointed.

“What has been happening to the NPP in recent times is a comedy of errors that will eventually lead to mutually assured destruction and collateral reputational damage of the party. The fatal error in my view was the press conference they held to respond to the issues. It was unnecessary.

“I thought and believed Kwabena was a better candidate compared to Sir John and I still believe so, but I think what they need now is a new leadership response to fix the crisis or they will soon be overwhelmed with the problems if they keep responding to issues on radio,” the socio- political commentator told private radio, Peace FM.
