Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has dismissed suggestions that he is intimidated by the arrival of Kwame Poku.
Poku, who left Asante Kotoko for USM Alger in 2021, was re-signed by the club on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Amoah has enjoyed a stellar debut season for the Porcupine Warriors since joining from Great Olympics at the start of the 2024/25 season.
The striker has scored seven goals in 12 appearances, including a late winner in the Super Clash.
Despite Poku's return, Amoah has made it clear he is not worried about the competition and instead sees it as an opportunity to improve the team’s chances.
In an interview with the press, Amoah emphasized that Poku’s arrival would strengthen the team’s attacking options and enhance their winning potential.
“I am not afraid of competition. I do not fear his (Kwame Poku’s) arrival. At the end of the day, it is the team that benefits. If I do not score, he can score. So that is positive for us,” he said.
With seven goals, Amoah is currently second in the 2024/25 season's goal-scoring chart.
Meanwhile, Poku has proven his goal-scoring prowess, netting eight goals during the 2020/21 season.
