Kwamena Bartels, the Minister of the Interior, has been relieved off his post by President Kufuor.

Mr. Bartels was dropped following a cabinet reshuffle that saw failed presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Addo Kufuor take the Interior Ministry.

Reasons for his dismissal have not been given.

Bartels, who is also the Member of Parliament of Ablekuma North has survived all cabinet reshuffles of the Kufuor administration in the seven years since the NPP came to power.

In an interview with JOYFM, Bartels says he has no regrets after his exclusion from government. He said he had prepared his mind to accept such a decision in advance and was therefore not devastated by the decision.

He said that he was grateful to the president for giving him the opportunity to serve his country. He said he was proud of his achievements during his tenure as Minister of Private Sector Development, Information and Interior.

Some analysts believe Mr. Bartels’ sack was informed by his poor handling of the Bawku crisis, the Liberian refugee saga and other related matters.
But he rejected those suggestions saying he acted in good faith in all matters
