Kwameseikrom (B/A), May 7, GNA - The chiefs and people of Kwameseikrom in the Jaman District at the weekend realised 6.7 million cedi at a fund-raising harvest in aid of an electrification project.
In an address, the MP for Jaman, Mr Nicholas Appiah-Kubi, commended the people for coming together to undertake a number of development projects to improve their living standard. He reminded them of the re-opened voters registration exercise, and urged those who had attained 18 years to register for the December general election.
Mr Appiah-Kubi advised the people to invest in their children's education, which holds the key to development. The District Chief Executive for Jaman, Mr Matthew Osei Gyasi, praised the people for their initiative in self-help projects and assured them that the district assembly would come to their aid. He appealed to all those who had not paid their contributions towards the project to do so before the end of this month.
Mr Gyasi said the people of the district were united with a common destiny and should not allow chieftaincy issues and politics to divide them. He therefore appealed to opinion leaders to foster unity among themselves to enhance the development of the district. He assured the people that work on the Berekum-Sampa road, which was temporarily suspended, would soon start.
Mr Alex Adum, Chairman of the Kwameseikrom GPRTU who chaired the function, appealed to the district assembly to provide the town with potable water and a clinic.
