The outgoing President of Asanteman Association of the Washington Metro Area, Mr. Samuel Kwasi Agyemang has urged members of the Association to exhibit a high sense of tolerance, decency and decorum so as to avoid needless personal attacks on fellow members. He noted that personal attacks and petty quarrels do not augur well for the association.

Speaking at a colorful and well organized end-of-year Christmas party and awards night on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Ghana Community Center in Alexandria, Virginia, Mr Kwasi Agyemang expressed his profound gratitude to the members for their unflinching support during his four years of stewardship and tasked all hands to be on deck for the coming year to move the association onto a higher pedestal of fame.

"Please, let Unity, Love and Peace prevail in our midst and also uphold the cultural values that define us as Asantes, namely, respect, understanding, love, hardwork, and above all unity", Mr. Kwasi Agyemang noted.

In an exclusive interview with reporters on the sidelines of the well-attended event, the indefatigable leader noted that, "peace is an enterprise and we cannot afford to waste our energies over trivialities that will only divide us".

"The Asanteman Association of Washington D.C needs a courageous, competent, selfless, compassionate organizer, and a leader with strong family values who can ensure that unity, peace and respect for all prevail in the association”, the President noted and urged members to be circumspective in selecting the Association’s next President.

The Asantefuohene of Washington Metro Area, Tafrebuo Nana Kofi Boateng, Asantefuohemaa, Nana Ama Achia, members of the Executive Council, the Council of Elders and other Community Leaders and important personalities in the Washington Metro Area were there to grace the occasion.

The climax of the event was the awards ceremony time when the President, assisted by Nana Afua Buo, presented the Association’s “Outstanding Member Awards” for 2014 to the following members: Tafrebuo Nana Kofi Agyenim Boateng, Asantefuohene, Nana Ama Achiaa, Asantefuohemaa, Mrs. Vivian Anokye Danso, Mr. Philip Yaw Ahenkora, Mr. Akwasi Owusu and Prince Osei Bonsu in appreciation and recognition of their outstanding contributions and service to Asanteman Association of the Washington Metropolitan Area.
