The cats have been issued ID cards
Two stray domestic cats have captured widespread attention after being officially granted residency at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Once wandering the campus, the cats have secured what can be considered special positions as resident cats at the university, even receiving official ID cards from the school.
They have also been given names for easy identification: Kwasi Joe, an orange-and-white cat, and Kofi Sam, a white-and-black striped cat, respectively.
Images shared show the cats with issued ID cards bearing their names, designations (University Cat), assigned campus locations which is the main administration, and a validity period extending to November 2099.
"As part of KNUST's Campus Cat Identity Initiative, official ID cards have been issued to resident cats Kwasi Joe and Kofi Sam at the Main Administration enclave," a post from KNUST's Facebook account read.
According to the university, the move is part of its Campus Cat Initiative, which aims to recognise and promote the welfare of KNUST's long-standing resident cats.
KNUST also indicated that the initiative aims to strengthen human-animal relationships on campus, creating a safe environment while enhancing the university's identity.
The development has sparked widespread reactions under the post, with many commending the university for the initiative.
