The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior, is one of the few Ghanaians who have been calling for a Ghanaian coach to manage the Black Star to the world stage (FIFA World Cup) for trophy after expatriate coaches’ failure.

According to him, Black Stars head coach, Kwesi Appiah, must prove his credibility that Ghanaian coaches are capable of winning trophies not only on African soil, but at the international stage.

Mr. Pratt who is very optimistic of the Stars’ victory urged Kwesi Appiah to win Friday’s crucial World Cup game against Zambia to prove his critics wrong.

“The more reason why I want Ghana to win this game is because; those of us who believed Ghanaian coaches are capable of managing the Black Stars will not be put into shame…I pray for his success.

“…Every Ghanaian for now is fully behind the Black Stars. Football is not all about skills; it is about encouragement as well. We are all supporting them. A win will help sell Ghana worldwide,” he said on Peace FM’s morning show programme “Kokrokoo”.

Meanwhile, a former NDC Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu Asare has expressed disappointment why soccer fanatics have not shown much interest in the upcoming World Cup qualifier.

He, however, called Ghanaians to put aside politics and support the Black Stars to emerge as victors against Zambia.

Nonetheless, NPP’s Deputy Communications Director, John Boadu, also on “Kokrokoo” is expectant of a win for the Stars as he believes, Coach Kwesi Appiah will make history to qualify the Stars to Brazil 2014.

With only three African sides, Algeria, Egypt and Ivory Coast assured of places in the final round of qualifiers, the Black Stars are a point away from clinching a place in the two-leg play-off places when the second round campaign ends this weekend on the continent as Black Stars comes face to face with the Chipolopolo’s.

The Stars are currently 2 goals up.
