Kwesi Pratt Jnr is the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper
Managing News Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has criticised what he describes as glaring double standards in the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Iran and Israel, as discussions around a possible ceasefire continue.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on March 25, 2026, Pratt questioned the basis of the international narrative driving the conflict and efforts to end it.
He pointed to disparities in global nuclear oversight, noting that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and remains under international inspection, while Israel is not.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency is there. Iran has signed the treaty. Israel has not signed and its facilities are not under inspection. So, what are we talking about? It simply does not make sense,” he said.
Pratt also challenged arguments about human rights violations used to justify pressure on Iran, drawing comparisons with past and present conflicts involving Western powers.
According to him, the United States invasion of Iraq, which was based on claims of weapons of mass destruction later found to be false, led to massive civilian casualties.
He further criticised Israel’s position on human rights, referencing ongoing allegations linked to the conflict in Gaza and treatment of Palestinian detainees.
“What moral right does Israel have to be talking about human rights abuses?” he asked.
Pratt warned that the global standard for accountability was declining, insisting that the justification for the war remains unclear.
“Wherever you turn, however you look at it, it does not make sense,” he added.
