The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has condemned a comment by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
The EC described some actions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a threat to Ghana's democracy.
Deputy Chairperson at the EC, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare had indicated that “I think if there is anyone who is becoming a threat or a potential threat to the democracy we are practicing in our country, then I will rather say that it is the posture of the NDC.
Since this new Commission took over we have noticed some of the things that have transpired. Before the Ayawaso West by-election, allegations were rife that, the register was bloated and we also noticed pictures of ballot papers.”
This was after the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah had described the posture of the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, as a threat to the commission and to the country’s democracy.
Reacting to this during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt said as an 'arbiter', the EC should not have made such a comment; 'no matter who said it first'.
