Kwesi Pratt threatened with death

Managing Editor for the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt, is receiving death threats from people suspected to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the searchlight newspaper has reported.

On Wednesday after his encounter with the media to deliver his own version of the ‘state of the nation address’, he received a call from an unknown member of the NDC threatening to get rid of him if he continues to attack the government.

“Gone are the days when you are sent to jail to serve a sentence. This time round, it is either we poison your water or plot a car accident for you,” the alleged caller reportedly threatened.

Mr. Pratt has however refused to report the matter to the police for reasons best known to him, sources have revealed.

Mr. Pratt has told journalists in Accra that looking at the current situation facing the country, he feels saddened by the kind of approach President John Mahama is using to deal with the matters at hand.

Mr. Pratt who has been an ardent supporter of the actions of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is of the view that the president is not being pragmatic enough with the situation facing the citizenry.

The current electricity and water problems are not being given much attention by the government, according to Mr. Pratt.

“I think the people of Ghana must demonstrate against the payment of electricity bills unless we are given better services. The people of Ghana deserve better than what we are currently experiencing,” Mr. Pratt proposed.

In a speech delivered at the Freedom Center on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 Mr. Pratt noted that the solving of the problems of Ghana is not in sending pastors to Israel to pray neither is it in the building of $10 Billion Hope City.

“There is no sense in building a Hope City when doctors here in Accra do not have accommodation and there are people still living in mud houses in Accra.

“You can’t continue to build shopping malls when the people do not have money to shop. Our leaders have failed us and that is not good for our country,” Mr. Pratt lamented.

In his view, President Mahama has messed up in tackling the issues confronting the people of this nation.
