Jackson Ebo Brown, a 53-year-old man who allegedly sells kelewele (fried ripe plantain chips) alongside wee, has been arrested by the Kyebi Divisional police and remanded into prison custody by the Kyebi district court presided over by Alice Afua Yirenkyi.
He was put before court on a provisional charge of possessing narcotic drug without authority, but his plea was not taken. He is to reappear in court on 16th March, 2016.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector George Appiah, presenting the facts to the court, said Ebo Brown is a kelewele seller who also sells the substance suspected to be wee, alongside the food in front of his house.
According to the prosecutor, George Appiah, the Kyebi District Police Commander, ASP Peter Okyere and six other junior police officers, upon a surveillance mounted on the accused, on 16th February, 2016, arrested him at his house near the Kyebi Abontendomhene palace at 8:05 pm.
Chief Inspector Appiah hinted that the police seized 73 wrapped wee in a bag hanging around his neck at where he sells the kelewele. He also led the police into his room where they found 181 wraps of the dry leaves in a polythene bag on his bed, 2 pairs of scissors, 215 pieces of paper and 4 buckets of king-size razors.
Prosecutor Appiah said Jackson Brown admitted selling the substance, and mentioned somebody as his source of supply.
The police took him to the station and later put him before the court. The suspected wee has been sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory for testing.
