The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Kwabena Agyepong has revealed that some party members including deputy minority leader Dominic Nitiwul, MP for Ablekuma West Ursula Owusu, Minority leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu are among some members within the party who are orchestrating attacks against him.
“If you put all things being said by Freddie Blay, Abankwah, Ursula (Owusu), (Dominic) Nitiwul and Kyei Mensah Bonsu…and if I look at the contents of the things that are being organized about me then I have had to come and respond...because the impression is being created that I deliberately travelled so I don’t support Nana Addo in his campaign, meanwhile I told Nana Addo of my plans to travel to Texas few days before he launched the Rise and Build tour and he never told me about it.
“They have tried to blame me for several things I have no idea about. I have tried all I can to advance the cause of Nana Addo but my efforts are not being appreciated. This is very disheartening and sad,” Agyepong said in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Monday.
Agyepong added “I know it is hurting a lot of people that our party issues are out there in the public but I didn’t start it. It was started by those who don’t mean well for the party who are trying to embarass me, they started this.
“They are saying all sorts of things against me and doing everything possible to denigrate my reputation…but I have decided to say some of these things for people to know what I am going through as a party general secretary.
“I see that some people are creating an impression in the minds of people that Paul Afoko and I are working against the chances of Nana Addo becoming President in 2016, and this is a fabrication…it is a complete lie...but I know I have a clean heart and I leave everything in the hands of God…but the people who are deliberately working to tarnish my image I leave them to God”.
