Ghanaian Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has shed light on the recent conflict between actress Tracy Boakye and actor Kyekyeku.

In a video shared on social media on December 15, 2024, Kwaku Manu explained that Kyekyeku’s decision to turn down Tracy Boakye’s offer was due to restrictions placed on him by his current production camp.

Kwaku Manu mentioned that, on several occasions, Kyekyeku had approached him for advice and asked him to explain to Tracy why he had been ignoring her calls.

“Kyekyeku came to my house and told me to speak to Tracy Boakye and apologize on his behalf for not answering her calls. Kyekyeku is popular today because some people brought him into the industry, but he doesn’t have ultimate freedom. Some people feel they ‘own’ him and dictate which productions he can work with. They believe he can't act for any other production outside their camp,” Kwaku Manu explained.

He also recounted how Kyekyeku felt disheartened when he saw Tracy Boakye’s live video, where she publicly aired her grievances about his refusal to cooperate.

“I had planned to call Tracy, but when I dropped Kyekyeku off, someone sent him a video of Tracy on a live broadcast, talking about him. He became very sad in the car after watching it,” Kwaku Manu said.

Kwaku Manu called on the production team Kyekyeku works with to give him more freedom to collaborate with other producers.

"If Kyekyeku’s camp doesn’t allow him to work freely, it will hurt his reputation. Issues like these arise, and no one speaks on his behalf, which only leads to misunderstandings and tarnishes his image,” he said.

He also recalled a time when Kyekyeku had to back out of one of his own productions, just two days before filming was set to begin.

“Kyekyeku was supposed to be part of my movie, but just two days before filming, I got a call that he couldn’t make it. He didn’t tell me directly, but I could see how upset he was,” Kwaku Manu shared.

Kwaku Manu further urged Tracy Boakye to be understanding, adding that Kyekyeku’s refusal wasn’t intentional.

"Tracy, please continue to love Kyekyeku. I know you care about him, and if you didn’t, you wouldn’t have given him $2,000. He also values you and your support. Please forgive him—he can't speak out because of the restrictions he faces," he pleaded.

Background

On December 13, 2024, Tracy Boakye took to social media to express her frustration after Kyekyeku refused to participate in the second part of her film Stubborn Ghost, despite having starred in the first part.

Tracy revealed that, although she had previously supported Kyekyeku by gifting him $2,000, his refusal to work on the sequel left her deeply hurt.

In her live session, Tracy shared her side of the story, saying, “I paid Kyekyeku for his role in Stubborn Ghost and never expected him to work for free. What hurt the most was how he ignored my calls when it was time to shoot the sequel. I’ve tried to reach him multiple times, but he just ignored me completely, and it feels personal now.”

The ongoing dispute has since sparked widespread attention on social media.
