Legal Aid Scheme Offices are to be established in five Municipalities and Districts in the Brong Ahafo Region.
They are the Asunafo North Municipality at Goaso, Techiman Municipality at Techiman, Dormaa Central Municipality at Dormaa Ahenkro, Tano North District at Duayaw Nkwanta, and Atebubu-Amantin District at Atebubu.
The offices are being established by Legal Resources Centre (LRC), an NGO working with the Legal Aid Scheme (LAS) and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
A statement signed by Ms Daphne Lariba Nabila, Executive Director of LRC and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, said it is part of efforts to ensure that the citizen's level of awareness and capacity to access the legal system is increased,
The offices would be inaugurated jointly at Duayaw Nkwanta on Tuesday, June 10, with the entire beneficiary Municipalities and Districts duly represented.
In addition, LRC would conduct Legal Aid Clinics for four days from Wednesday, June 11 to Saturday June 14 at Duayaw Nkwanta, and from Monday June 16 to Thursday June 19 at Goaso.
The LRC was incorporated in 1998 and committed to the realization of human dignity by building human rights capacities.
This is done by facilitating the establishment of human rights cities, conducting research, advocacy and advisory services including legal aid for individuals, organizations and communities.
