LIVE UPDATES: Press briefing on Ghana’s 6,269 coronavirus case count

The Ministry of Information holds a press confab at its Press Centre, Accra, to provide updates on Ghana’s situation as regards the fight against Coronavirus.

Ghana Health Service on Wednesday, May 20 announced that country has recorded 173 new infections, bringing the total number to 6,269. The update also communicated there’s been an increase in the number of recoveries by 125. The toll, thus, stands at 1,898.

The number of deaths remains 31. Per the figures, the country has 4,340 active cases.

Officials from the Ghana Health Service are expected to educate the public on the dynamics of the virus in the country.

The issue of stigmatisation will still be explored as some patients are said to be facing some form of discrimination in their respective communities.

An update on COVID-19 alleviation program business support scheme will also be provided as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has launched the GH¢1 billion Coronavirus Alleviation Programme Business Support Scheme, which is being provided by Government and selected participating banks to micro, small and medium-scale businesses around the country.
