The Bank of Ghana (BoG) is holding a press briefing following the conclusion of the 132nd meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), with attention focused on inflation trends, liquidity conditions, exchange rate developments and global economic risks.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Chairman of the MPC, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, is expected to announce the Committee’s latest decision on the Monetary Policy Rate.

The policy rate is the benchmark interest rate set by the central bank to influence borrowing costs and overall economic activity.

At its 131st meeting in July 2026, the MPC maintained the policy rate at 14%, citing the need to preserve disinflation gains while supporting economic activity.

The 132nd MPC meeting, held from September 23 to 24, was aimed at reviewing recent developments in the domestic economy and assessing risks to inflation and growth.

Opening the meeting on Wednesday, September 23, Dr Asiama said the Committee would assess the evolving economic outlook, including developments in inflation, the exchange rate, international reserves, energy prices and global economic conditions.

The Committee is also expected to consider liquidity conditions and the effectiveness of monetary policy measures in influencing economic activity and inflation.

The BoG has recently warned that Ghana’s external reserves could come under pressure in the third quarter, while global developments, including higher energy prices and geopolitical tensions, remain key risks to the economic outlook.

The outcome of the 132nd MPC meeting is expected to provide guidance on the Bank’s monetary policy direction for the coming months.
