The Ministry of Information will hold another edition of its press briefing series to provide an update to citizens on the next mitigating measures in Ghana's fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

The sharp spike in Ghana's case count continues to spark a debate and concerns over whether the country has reached its 'peak' as earlier announced by the Ghana Health Service.

However at the last presser held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 Director General at the GHS disclosed some 26 districts in Greater Accra have been affected with coronavirus.

Also in the Ashanti Region, Obuasi, has been identified as the highest with the number infections in the region.

However, some pertinent key issues to be addressed by the Information Ministry at today's press conference will provide clarity on when the hospitality sector can commence opening up.

An update on government’s engagement with stakeholders on the potential post restrictions measures will be provided while an advisory update of the community spread on the novel coronavirus.

As of Wednesday May 13, 2020, Ghana's COVID-19 case count spiked to 5,408 with 514 recoveries and two more deaths taking the toll to 24.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier in his ninth address extended the ban on social and public gatherings to May 31, 2020, as a measure to institute social distancing protocols to curb the spread of the virus.

With all other protocols still in place but for the lifting of the partial lockdown, the president however pleaded with Ghanaians to adhere to all the directives by the state in order to curtail the spread of the virus.
