The apparent rot engulfed in the country's independent electoral body and the seeming cracks that have emerged following attacks by Commissioners of the institution on one another. The tale of the Electoral Commission; a commissioner against her deputies, is expected to dominate discussions in this weekend's edition of Newsfile. While members of the majority in Parliament call for a probe into the several claims leveled against the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, the minority unsurprisingly hold a different view insisting the entire 'orchestration' smacks of conspiracy to oust the EC chair from office. President Nana Akufo-Addo has meanwhile forwarded to the Chief Justice, a petition by some staff of the EC for the removal of the Commission's chair.
Allegations of bias leveled against an umpire who until his recent appointment, swore allegiance to one of the competing parties. The minority in Parliament are at war with the Speaker of the House, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye over what they describe as his inability to set aside his political biases in the interest of the nation. They have threatened to go all out in ensuring they have a fair hearing in the august House.
Also, the power crisis appears to be over, but contracts that led to the stabilization of the power situation seem to have popped up again with key actors in one of the deals involving AMERI being interrogated by the Police CID.
