In the midst of the controversy surrounding the construction of a National Cathedral, Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shuaib, has said an interfaith edifice would have been more appropriate than the national cathedral because the project is tied to Ghana’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Even though some have used the ongoing construction of the 15,000 seater-capacity national mosque to justify the construction of the national cathedral, Sheikh Aremeyaw has described as misplaced comparison, arguing that the edifice was a replacement for the previous national mosque which was demolished for the construction of the Rawlings Park in Accra.

Away from that, the rippling effects of the banking crisis will be tackled as many continue to lose their jobs.

Finally, issues bordering on the regional elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will also feature on Joynews’ Newsfile program. The Greater Accra branch of NDC will vote on Saturday, September 1 at the Central Cafeteria, University of Ghana, Legon, to elect its executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

These and many other issues will be discussed on Newsfile today.
