The fallouts of the much-anticipated mid-year budget review will headline discussions on JoyNews’ weekend analysis show; Newsfile.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on July 29 presented to Parliament a mid-year fiscal policy review of the 2019 budget statement and economic policy which highlighted the performance of the economy within the first half of the year.

According to the minister, although targets set out by government at the beginning of the year were not met, he is positive of a robust turnaround in the economic fortunes of the country within the second half of the year.

He further revealed that government as part of measures to increase its revenue will increase some taxes such as the Energy Sector Levy and Call Tax.

Other issues likely to be tabled include the domestic revenue challenges the country is faced with, Ghana’s fiscal discipline in the run up to 2020 general elections, as well as the public debt and infrastructure financing.

The week has also been dominated by news of government’s decision to suspend concession agreement with Power Distribution Services (PDS) due to an alleged fraudulent act and the alleged remains of the missing Takoradi girls found at the key suspect’s house yesterday.

These and many others will be in focus in today’s edition of JoyNews Newsfile with Sampson Anyenini and his panelists
