The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament is currently holding its Ada zonal sitting in the Tema Metropolitan area.
The committee, which is mandated to examine the audited accounts of government institutions and agencies, is responsible for ensuring accountability, transparency, and the proper use of public funds across the public sector.
During the live proceedings, the committee is engaging officials from the Ministry of Tourism, including the ministry’s procurement director and other key officials, to respond to queries arising from audit reports.
Also expected to appear before the committee is Tema Mayor Ebi Bright.
The session is being closely watched as part of ongoing parliamentary efforts to scrutinise public expenditure and address irregularities flagged in recent Auditor-General’s reports.
Meanwhile, Members of Parliament on the committee, are expected to interrogate the officials on issues relating to procurement practices, expenditure compliance, and value-for-money considerations in the ministry’s operations.
The Ada zonal sitting forms part of PAC’s decentralised approach to public accountability hearings, allowing key institutions outside Accra to respond directly to audit queries and strengthen oversight of public financial management.
