Security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), have rushed to Newtown, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region, to rescue victims following the collapse of a three-storey school building.
According to reports, the 14-year-old Accra Newtown Experimental School building collapsed after heavy rainfall on Sunday March 29, 2026.
The incident was cited in a report by UTV Ghana.
Some individuals, believed to be church members, have already been rescued from the scene, as security personnel intensify efforts to save others who may still be trapped under the debris.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency teams working urgently to ensure all victims are brought to safety.
