A day after some members of the Asawase constituency thronged the party office of the NDC to pick up nomination forms for former President John Dramani Mahama, scores of constituents at the La Dade Kotopon area are scheduled to do same for one of their own who aims to lead the country in 2020, Sylvester Adinam Mensah.
According to the immediate past constituency organiser of the party in the area, their decision stems from recent developments over the nomination and filing fees of flagbearer aspirants as communicated by the National Executive Committee of the NDC.
They say they deem it necessary to do all they can in getting Sylvester Mensah on the ballot sheet for delegates to make the right choice for the party and indeed, Ghana as a country.
The constituents say they will pick the nomination forms and go to all the ten regions of the country to secure the required endorsement and signatures.
“We know it’s the party’s responsibility to raise funds for party function defined in the party’s constitution and not individual aspirants. We shall however not allow this deliberate strategy of exclusion to affect our choice of leader for the NDC,” one such constituent told newswiregh.
“We will join hands with all like minded members and executives to raise funds for the filling fees if the party fails to review it’s fee structure. For now we have received contributions just over Ghc 20,000.00 to pick the nomination forms tomorrow if the deadline is not extended,” he added.
