La residents threaten legal action against La General Hospital

Residents of La in the La-Dadekotopon Municipality are threatening to sue management of the La General Hospital and the municipality for what they have described as unhygienic conditions triggered by the facility.

The angry residents who say they live in fear of contracting some communicable diseases are accusing the hospital of refusing to address the perpetual stench emanating from the morgue.

This, they further stated has left the vicinity swamped with flies and residents prone to infectious disease.

At an emergency meeting held by the residents on the issue, the group also complained about air pollution from the hospital’s incinerator, forcing residents to keep their windows closed both day and night with little or no ventilation.

The agitated residents also alleged that several meetings with the hospital authorities and the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly have yielded no results as the situation remains the same.

Listing some other concerns, the residents say the indiscipline practiced by taxi drivers who operate in and around the environs are also of great worry.

These drivers have been accused of blocking roads, driving carelessly and smoking substance believed to be Indian hemp with impunity and no respect for authority.

They are therefore calling on the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Madam Gladys TsoTsoo Mann-Dedey and the Akufo-Addo led government to address these concerns or face their wrath in court.
