The La Traditional Council has launched the 2024 Homowo Festival, calling for peace and good neighborliness.
This year's theme, "Development through Good Neighborliness and Peace; The Role of Traditional Festivals," aims to use the event as a catalyst for peace and development within the La Community.
The month-long celebration, spanning from August 5 to 30, 2024, will commence with various activities and rituals.
The lineup includes educational and entertainment-based events such as inter-school and inter-quarters quizzes, a street carnival, musical concerts, health screenings, and soccer matches.
The festival also aims to showcase the rich cultural values and traditional practices of the La people.
At the launch event held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Nii Adjei Kofeh IV, La Shikitele, highlighted the significance of good neighborliness and peace as essential to the development of any community and nation.
He urged the La community to continue fostering the peace and unity that currently exists in the area.
Nii Kofeh also advised the youth to respect the country's laws and refrain from engaging in any criminal activities or causing disruptions before, during, and after the 2024 General Election.
