Labone GCB Foiled Robbery: Watch the Rambo-style capture of suspect Okechukwu Maazi

New footage showing how a suspect linked to the failed Labone robbery was apprehended in a Rambo-style operation by the Ghana Police Service has sparked reactions online.

In the footage, which has been making waves on X and was sighted by GhanaWeb on August 14, 2026, the suspect, identified as Augustine Okechukwu Maazi, was seen being dragged from a hideout and escorted into a white pickup truck.

In the less-than-one-minute clip, the suspect was seen in handcuffs as officers from the Ghana Police Service’s Anti-Robbery Unit hurriedly bundled him into the vehicle.

The video also showed heavily armed police officers, some dressed in plain clothes, securing the area following the operation.

Following the emergence of the footage, many social media users have shared their reactions online.

While the majority of netizens have praised the Police Service for its swift and proactive response to the attempted robbery, others have expressed surprise, noting that it is the first time they have witnessed such a rapid and coordinated police operation.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed that its officers foiled an armed robbery attack in Labone, Accra.

In a statement shared on social media on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Police Service said its officers intervened to stop the robbery and shot two suspected assailants, while another suspect was arrested.

“The Ghana Police Service today, August 13, 2026, foiled a robbery attempt on the GCB Bank, Labone, Accra. Two suspects have been gunned down, and one has been arrested,” the statement said.

The Police Service, however, did not immediately clarify whether the two suspects who were shot died on the spot or sustained serious injuries.

It added that further details regarding the incident would be communicated in due course.
