Briefing the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Gilbert Iddi on the project, Mr Bainson said the selection of communities to benefit from the project were based on the Volta River Authority's (VRA) programme to link them to the national grid by the end of the year. Sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the government of Ghana, GAP aims at rehabilitating and stabilizing 35 water systems in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions in two phases, in the next three years. The first phase which ends this year involves the rehabilitation of water systems in 14 communities including Yendi, Saboba, Damongo, Zabzugu. Bole and Tinka in the Northern region. Out of the communities in the Northern Region, only Yendi and Bole are on the national grid.
