Lack of coordination in measures to contain coronavirus worrying – Bonaa

Security expert, Adam Bonaa has criticized what he says is the lack of coordination and clarity in the measures being rolled out to contain or prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus(Covid-19) disease in Ghana.

“Schools were closed down, Form 3 students were left and within a week WAEC says no exams. Form 3 students are now being asked to come home at a time when the numbers are going up. So chances are that if we are not careful and the coordination is not properly done we would have this disease traveling because now Form 3 students are being told to go home on Monday and they are going to leave from one place to another. Chances are that some of them might come into contact with those who have been infected. So things have to be properly coordinated and there should be no ambiguity in what the President is telling Ghanaians,” Mr Bonaa told TV 3 in an interview monitored by Kasapafmonline.com.

President Akufo Addo on Saturday night ordered closure of all of Ghana’s borders, land, air, and sea to human traffic effective midnight Sunday, March 22, 2020, for the next two weeks in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in the country.

According to the President, anybody who comes into the country before midnight on Sunday will be mandatorily quarantined and tested for the virus.

Addressing the country in a national broadcast, President Akufo Addo, however, noted that the closure does not apply to goods, supplies, and cargo.

He added that the Ministry of Health will not only rump up its contact tracing effort but will also see to it that all persons who have been identified as having come into contact with infected persons are tested for the virus.

Ghana as of Sunday, March 22, 2020, has so far confirmed 21 Coronavirus cases with one death.
