Colorado Rapids defender Lalas Abubakar is confident of a future national team call up from the technical handlers of the Black Stars.
The 25-year old revealed he has been on the radar of the Black Stars for sometime now, and was told back in 2018 he was in the 'pool of data' of the technical team.
Abubakar enjoyed a very good Major League Soccer season last year, earning him a permanent move from Columbus Crew to Rapids, after an initial loan deal.
“I always believe if you keep playing well, working hard, it’s going to come," Abubakar told mlssoccer.com. "I know they’re watching me. In 2018, they told me I was in their data pool and when my time comes, they’ll call me. If I continue to play well, I think I’m going to get a call up.”
The strong defender is waiting for the return of the MLS following an enforced break by the coronvirus, but has joined the rest of the team for training.
Lalas started and played the entire duration of this season's first two games.
