The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme [rCOMSDEP], Ing Frank Asare Pedro, together with his team, has engaged stakeholders of Anwia and Teleku-Bokazo communities on responsible cooperative mining program.
In September 2025, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, launched a responsible cooperative mining program in the two communities to provide sustainable mining employment for the residents of the two communities in the Ellembelle district of the Western region.
The central idea of this high-level meeting was to sensitise local miners on the processing of gold at the local level, addressing their concerns and challenges and ensuring good mining practices and the creation of sustainable jobs.
Speaking during the meeting, the DCE for the Ellembelle district, Joseph Agyekum, commended the government for the program and also thanked the team for engaging the chiefs and opinion leaders in the two communities.
He emphasised the government’s commitment towards responsible mining practices, fostering unity among stakeholders and promoting sustainable economic growth.
On his part, Ing Frank Asare-Pedro stated and outlined measures for good mining practices.
He encouraged the teams involved to do away with any form of illegal mining, disunity, and embrace the government’s initiative of protecting our environment, creating sustainable jobs and improving our economy through the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme [rCOMSDEP].
He gave room for expression of concerns.
The parties involved expressed gratitude towards the government’s flagship initiative, rCOMSDEP, with cheerful welcome and support.
The stakeholders, however, were sensitised on gold processing techniques, and their strategies and ideas were welcomed.
The Nananom, which include Nana Kwame Bentum [Chief of Salma], Nana Afful Kwaw II [Chief of Teleku Bokazo] and Nana Semali Kpanyinli V [Chief of Anwia], took the opportunity and thanked Ing Frank Asare-Pedro and his team, assured them that they will ensure good mining practices in order to create sustainable jobs.

The session ended on a positive note, with a renewed commitment by all parties to support the government’s vision of responsible, cooperative, and sustainable jobs.
