Hohoe, Sept. 3, GNA - A landslide along the mountains at Kable-Todzi, near Gbi-Akplamafu in Hohoe District has destroyed farms and houses but with no casualties. Mr. Jean Telou, a resident told the Ghana News agency that boulders

ripping off the mountains around 1630 hours during a heavy down pour last Thursday created loud and frightening sound, sending residents fleeing the area.

Mr. Maxwell Titriku, Assemblyman for Gbi-Wegbe Electoral Area who visited the area said farms, including palm and plantain plantations were destroyed by the slide. He suggested that residents along the low lying areas be resettled on higher grounds away from the place. As a result of the heavy rains, river Fantibi, which runs through the area, has swelled up to dangerous levels.
