Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston has said it would be a perfect idea by the Ghana Football Association to appoint ex goalie Richard Olele Kingston as new Black Stars goalkeeper’s trainer.

Reports in the local media before new Ghana coach appointment by the FA suggested the federation were I talks appoint former Black Stars stop stopper Olele and Stephen Appiah to occupy the position of Goalkeepers trainer and team manager respectively.

An idea Laryea says would help in the transformation of the current Ghana team.

Speaking on Kumasi based Abusua FM, the former Hearts of Oak play-maker said ‘’ Olele has a lot of experience and has what it takes to make Black Stars a strong team. He is one of the best goalkeepers the country has ever had. When u are selecting a goalkeeper trainer, you need someone who knows the game very well’’

‘’Since he [Olele] retired, the Black Stars team has never seen any good goalkeeper like him again. You need such a man in your team

‘’I think the perfect man for the team manager job is Stephen Appiah, remember a lot of the guys respect him and are looking up to him. With the respect they have for him, I don’t think any boy can disrespect or misbehave in camp. He stressed.

‘’I think the former Black Stars players should be given the chance to work in the team. It will help us a lot.

Laryea also pleaded with Ghanaians and the Nation’s football governing body [GFA] to exercise restraint as he believes Kwesi Appiah will work very hard to ensure the team returns to its glory days of winning matches.

‘’I’m pleading with the FA and Ghanaians to give him time. I am a former player and I know how it is.

He also highlighted on the need for the FA allow the coach is his own backroom staff

‘’ I don’t think it is a good idea for the FA to choose assistant coach or back room staff for Kwesi Appiah. He should be given the chance to choose people he trust and think he has confidence in them to work with. If you don’t have the right people around you, things will be difficult for you some assistant coaches will sabotage you when you are working’’

He should also be given enough time and support who knew Herve Renard could be one of the best coaches in Africa but with trust and patience Zambia had in him he was able to deliver and won the AFCON for them in 2012.
