Latex Foam, a leading foam manufacturing brand, has donated 1,000 pieces of medical mattresses valued at GH¢470,000.00(Four hundred and seventy thousand ghana cedis) to the Ministry of Health to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The General Manager of Latex Foam, Mr Salim G. Nahlous, said the gesture was in response to the national call to individuals and corporate bodies to support the government’s fight against the global health crisis.
COVID-19 has the potential to put pressure on the country’s medical facilities if it spread across the country.
Presenting the items, Mr Nahlous said the 1,000 mattresses covered the current needs of the ministry, but noted also that Latex Foam was always ready to assist further because of the implications of the pandemic on the country’s healthcare system and society at large.
The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, thanked Latex Foam for the support, stressing that the mattresses were very essential in healthcare delivery relative to COVID-19 in view of the critical nature of the management of the disease through isolation/quarantine of sufferers or suspected sufferers and treatment of confirmed cases.
He said COVID-19 has become a shared responsibly for all.
Latex Foam, recently granted Superbrand status for the second time in seven years, has been committed to corporate social responsibility in many areas of national development, including donation to support the annual National Farmers’ Day celebration, support for needy and brilliant students of the University of Ghana, among others.
