A former Senior Law Lecturer at the Ghana Law School, Ace Ankomah says regrettably, laws hardly work in Ghana.
According to him, Ghana is one of the few countries with all the beautiful laws including a law on mosquitoes which was recently expunged from our law books.
“Yes we have all the laws here in this country, until recently, we had the Mosquito ordinance, we’re one of the few countries in Africa that has tried to streamline public procurement but sadly all these laws are not applied. Our Parliament is good at formulating laws, but the enforcement is the problem.”
Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Lawyer Ace Ankomah described Ghanaians as traditionally laid back people, an attitude he said does not help in the developmental agenda of the country.
“We’re a reticent people; we’re too laid back in our approach to doing a lot of things and that is a big problem. God gave us reticence, so that we can think about issues bothering us and act on them, but sadly the inertia is too much. Ghana is a blessed country, but we’ve turned our blessings into something else.”
