Freso (Ash), Oct. 15, GNA - A clergyman has warned political, religious and traditional leaders against using their power to divide the country and advised them to unite the country for national reconstruction.

The Reverend Father Joseph Osei-Bonsu, the new Rector of the Bodwesango-Freso Catholic Church, said Jesus Christ encountered social injustice and opposition in his quest to liberate mankind but he was able to unite people from various nations with the gospel. Preaching at a ceremony organised to welcome him to the Church, the new Rector expressed regret that some opinion leaders had "turned the coin upside down."

He noted that instead of ensuring peace, stability and happiness, some leaders had used their influence to cheat, intimidate, and harass their followers thereby perpetrating injustice, misery and confusion in the society.

Rev. Fr. Osei-Bonsu said only the truth could eliminate diseases, ignorance and poverty among the people and appealed to leaders to propagate nothing but sincerity and uprightness.

He urged the people to avoid political, religious and ethnic conflicts that undermined progress and rather live in peace and harmony to ensure national development.

Nana Adu Amponti-Dwaah II, President of the Rectorate, and Krontihene of Bodwesango, urged the people to support the new Rector to enable him to move the Church and the town forward.
