Polytechnic Teachers Association calls off strike

Agogo (Ash.) Nov. 7 GNA - The Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has decided to call off their strike to reduce the hardships of their students.

Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Education Youth and Sports, announced this at the celebration of the Asante-Akim North District Farmers' Day at Agogo on Friday.

The Education Minister said he had a call from National President of the POTAG, Mr Napoleon Abbew, who is based in Tamale.

Mr Baah-Wiredu said Mr Abbew told him POTAG decided to call off the strike in view of the hardships the students were undergoing and, therefore, appealed to all Polytechnic Teachers to resume lectures. In the meantime, the Education Minister said, negotiations were still going on between POTAG and the Ministry and, therefore, appealed to all Polytechnic Teachers to heed the call of POTAG.
