Governance Expert, Dr. Eric Oduro Osie has admonished government appointees to take cues from Hon. William Agyapong Quaittoo to resign honorably when the need arises.

“Everyone should do honorable thing to resign from positions they hold if the people you are working for are not satisfied”, he stated.

“It is better you resign from office if you accept to have misconducted yourself in one way or other and have brought the name of the office hold or government into disrepute”

The governance expert who spoke on Kumasi-based Abusua FM said, he is not surprised the Deputy Minister who is also lawmaker for Akim Oda resigned on his own accord.

“I am not surprised…..I expect it because elsewhere, one on his accord does that before pressure from the public mounts on such person”, he told host of ” Abusua Nkommo” Kwame Adinkra.

A group in the Northern Region rejected the apology by Deputy Minister after he made ethnocentric remarks about farmers in the area.

Hon. William Agyapong Quaittoo in an interview described farmers who were demanding compensation for crops destroyed by the army worm as “difficult people and insincere”

Several calls from the people including the National Democratic Congress (NDC) asked for his resignation despite his public apology.

With pressure mounting on him, he tendered in a resignation letter to the presidency on Tuesday evening.
