Leave Prez Mahama alone to do his appointments – Educationist

Mrs Esther Hamilton, Proprietress of the Light of the World School at New Aplaku in the Greater Accra Region has appealed to Ghanaians to allow President John Mahama to do his appointments without any interference.

She said how people were lobbying for positions for their friends and relatives was worrying and could make the President, who is the sole authority to make appointments, commit errors.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at New Aplaku in the Ga South Municipality, Mrs Hamilton said by acceding to the requests of those who exerted pressure on him, the President would be seen as not being his own man and had to be dictated to.

“We must allow him to do his work since he would be the one to take responsibility for his actions,” she said.

“Calls from chiefs and youth associations to the President to appoint their own people as ministers of state must stop,” she said and added that the President could not appoint ministers from all the 275 constituencies in the country.

She said ministers were not expected to serve people from their areas alone but the country as a whole, and “therefore we need not force the President to appoint people from our areas for ministerial appointments”, the educationist stressed.

Mrs Hamilton appealed to Ghanaians to help to make the work of President Mahama easier instead of compounding problems.

She congratulated people who had been appointed to ministerial positions and urged them not to abuse the confidence the President had reposed in them when they got the nod from Parliament.
