With the security situation in Lebanon increasingly deteriorating, the government of Ghana has strongly advised all Ghanaians living there to evacuate the country as soon as possible.

The urgent evacuation order was issued due to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration's grave worries about the possible harm to Ghanaian citizens in the midst of Lebanon's worsening situation.

A press release issued Friday by the Ministry highlights the "rapidly unfolding crisis" in Lebanon and asks Ghanaians to evacuate per the next available commercial flight still operating out of Lebanon, to avoid any emergencies.

Given the ongoing war with Israel and the continued deterioration of the situation, the government asked all to heed the call.

"Considering the deteriorating situation, the Government of Ghana encourages all Ghanaian nationals in Lebanon to take advantage of the limited available flights to immediately leave the country," the statement from the Ministry read.

It added: "Towards this end, the Government wishes to encourage Ghanaians living there who may not have travel documents to contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt, or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon to obtain Emergency Travel Certificates. Those who may require assistance to obtain Exit Permits may similarly contact the Embassy or the Consulate."
