Bolgatanga, Sept 19 (Azanduna) GNA - Mrs. Mary Agangmikre Upper East Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourist Board, at the weekend appealed to operators of hotels and tourism related businesses to legitimise their operations by acquiring the necessary documentation. She said the documentation needed for regularization include permits from the Town and Country Planning Department, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ghana Police Service and the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the relevant Metropolitan, Municipal or District Assembly. Mrs. Agangmikre made the appeal at this year's regional celebration of the United Nations Tourism Day in Bolgatanga.
The occasion, which is under the theme; 'Tourism; celebrating Diversity', aims at creating awareness among the public of the social, cultural, political and economic values of tourism. She commended Ghanaians for their high level of hospitality and tolerance and said they were the very reason why tourists flock the country very year.
Mrs. Agangmikre said tourists will always have a choice when considering where to spend their time and money adding that a safe, friendly and hygienic place will also be a preferred destination. The occasion was climaxed with the crowning of Bolgatanga Girls as winners of a quiz competition. They were presented 60 Ghana Cedis. 19 Sept. 09
