"The 2008 general elections has been hyped to the level that, we now have to manage it in a manner that it breeds no problems", he said. He said tolerance and understanding would do the trick, stressing that "whoever wins, wins for Ghana and that it should not be the winner takes all". Dr Ampofoh said the beauty of multi-party democracy was the diversity of opinions that it brought and added that the diversity helped society to move forward. He said two heads were better than one and that it was wrong for politicians to accuse each other, instead they should understand each other for the progress of the nation. The MP, who was defeated at his recent constituency primary, said in politics one needed not to fight to win, since politics was not about sharing money but about sacrifice and offering oneself for the benefit of others. Touching on the nomination of Professor John Atta Mills for national award by the President, Dr Ampofoh regretted that, the country was getting polarized along political lines on the issue. He said the country needed to be one and called on politicians to be responsible and heeded to the call for unity. Dr Ampofoh said the country had reached a stage where different political parties needed to collaborate with each other. 10 June 08
