Let NPP decide boycotts with a referendum - Ndebugre

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Ndebugre, is calling for a referendum within the party to determine whether the party’s rank and file support the boycott of some aspects of governance.

According to the former MP, there may be a silent majority group which does not support the party’s actions but is unable to voice its concerns.

Lawyer Ndebugre tells Citi News “it is high time the party listened to dissenting views and gauge the acceptability rate of its actions in recent times.”

“It is useful for the party leadership to open up and allow dissenting views to be expressed and maybe through that we will find a way out of the mess we find ourselves in,” he stated.

“Another alternative is for us to use the machinery we used to select the presidential candidate which is the ‘Expanded Electoral College’, carry out a limited referendum so that we will determine whether the rank and file of the party is coming along with the decisions that are being taken to the top in terms of refusing to recognize the president in the meantime while the legal process is going on and in terms of the boycotts,” he added.
