Dr Joseph Oteng-Adjei, the Energy Minister, has called for more vigilance to prevent unqualified people from participating in the Biometric Voters’ Registration Exercise.
He said it was important for every Ghanaian to accept to share in the
responsibility of helping the Electoral Commission to come out with a clean and credible voters’ roll.
Dr Oteng-Adjei, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Bosomtwe, said minors should not be allowed to register and all should also watch out for those who would attempt to engage in double registration.
Speaking to the GNA in an interview during a tour of his constituency, Dr Oteng-Adjei appealed to parents and headmasters of senior high schools s to prevail on under-aged students to stay away.
He urged all stakeholders, including the political parties and Members of
Parliament, to help educate voters on the importance of the exercise and to
contribute to its success.
Dr Oteng-Adjei said people should be assisted to understand that it is only by getting their names in the register that they would be able to vote in the upcoming December General Elections.
