Mr Andrews Adjei-Yeboah, NPP-Tano South - on Friday asked Ghanaians to be more time-conscious, dedicated and resourceful in work places since only a change of heart towards work would lead the nation to prosperity.

"We most of the time see the State as a huge dead horse that must be flogged. We don't even care what happens to State property. We come to work late and run home when its is not yet 5pm."

The member was speaking to the motion that the House should thank the President for his State of the Nation Address.

He said the Presidency was pursuing programmes that would bring back smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.

Mr Adjei-Yeboah said the tree-planting project undertaken last year generated about 800,000 jobs adding that such activities would remain the focus of government.

The member said the Military had had its image of brutality and subversion changed into that of a keeper and friend.

"People no longer see the army as a bunch of people with crooked ideas trained to kill or to be killed. They are now seen as the men to defend us and fraternise with us."

Mr Mike Hammah, NDC-Efutu, said the President's address lacked focus and was very difficult to understand.

He said land use and sustainable development were not mentioned adding that the any society that did not care about how it planned its land development was doomed to failure.

He called for a vigorous mobilisation of internal resource and "have the plight of the venerable in mind before any major decision was taken."

"Government must wake up and drive the public sector. We want to witness directives which are compelling and not ambiguous."

Mr Moses Dani Baah, PNC-Sisala - said the President gave a clear vision on rural development saying that people in the rural areas had had their standard of living raised.
