Mr Woyongo made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga when he returned from Burkina Faso where officials from Togo, Burkina Faso and Ghana met with Pagev, the French equivalent of Water Resources Commission.
He said Pagev had sponsored water resource utilization in the three countries and the meeting was called to assess the benefits derived from th= e projects. Major activities of the organization were water resource management an= d aforestation and involved some communities in the Bawku East and Bawku West Districts. He said among some benefits were the provision of farming implements t= o undertake tree planting activities.
Mr Woyongo said a major issue the organization raised was the inabilit= y of their staff to monitor most of their activities around the eastern corridor as a result of the security situation in Bawku and its environs, more so as motorbike riding has been banned in that area. He said the region was considering relaxing the ban motorbike riding which came into force in the Bawku Township for security reasons.
