Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, has appealed to Ghanaians to help the President realise his dream of making Ghana a clean and healthy place to live.

According to her, 16,000 metric tonnes of waste was generated in the entire country out of which 5,000 tonnes was from the capital city Accra.

She stated that citizens must be educated on how to manage and reduce plastic waste adding that, 3000 tonnes of plastic waste was generated in Accra alone on a daily basis.

Mrs. Dapaah stressed on the fact that the country had enough laws to deal with the sanitation situation, saying the laws must be used to punish the offenders to serve as a deterrent to others.

She also assured that her ministry would monitor the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and provide them with the needed support to win the battle against poor sanitation.

Mr. Richard Badger Deputy Manager of Early Power Limited also pledged support to the call for proper sanitation practices.

He presented 20 pieces of mini refuse bins with metal cages to the Kpone Katamanso Municipality Assembly.
