Let's learn to live with the coronavirus - Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to learn to live with the novel Coronavirus.

This was contained in his live televised broadcast to the nation on Sunday, July 26, 2020.

"...we have to learn to adapt to the conditions. It is not normal that we have to wear masks, but now we have to; it is not normal that we cannot shake hands with each other; and it is certainly not normal that we cannot hug our family members and loved ones; but that is our current reality. Until treatment is found, COVID-19 will remain a part of our lives," President Akufo-Addo said.

He stated further that, COVID-19 cannot put our lives on hold indefinitely, and "Ghana cannot remain in a never-ending crisis management situation, and that is why we have been putting measures in place to restore gradually some normalcy in our social and economic lives, as we learn to cope with the reality of the virus."

Akufo-Addo added that, "the most significant of these measures has been the gradual reopening of the schools to enable final year students at various levels of education finish the school year and take their exams."

Ghana's current confirmed cases of Coronavirus stands at 32,969 with 161 deaths. The Ghana Health Service (GHS) indicated on their official website that, it has also recorded 29,494 clinical recoveries with active cases now at 3,307.

Out of this number, eight are in critical condition, five on ventilators and 23 others in severe conditions.
