Let’s propagate our party ideologies - CPP Chairman

Mr Ali Adam Mohammed, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has tasked the parliamentary candidates, to propagate the ideologies and philosophies of the party.

This, according to him, would increase the party membership and enable it make significant impact in the general election.

Mr Mohammed observed that the concepts of the party have been shadowed and CPP fortunes could be enhanced if Ghanaians in general understand its principles and ideologies.

He was interacting with the parliamentary candidates of the party in the Region, who are contesting the November 7, polls at a meeting in Sunyani.

Mr Mohammed asked the candidates to ensure that the interest of the CPP override their personal and parochial ambitions.

He emphasised that as parliamentary candidates, they remain the front-liners and representatives of the party at the constituency levels, and ought to ensure they are imbibed with and base their campaigns on the new CPP covenant of loyalty, dedication, accountability and transparency.

According to the Regional Chairman, the new CPP under the leadership of Ivor Korbina Greenstreet, the Flag-bearer recognises that the grassroots hold the strength of the party, and it therefore the obligation of the parliamentary candidates to cement party unity at the local level.

Mr Mohammed said the strength of the party has improved in the region, indicating that 22 parliamentary candidates are contesting out of the 29 constituencies

He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed majority of Ghanaians, and as the third force in the country’s multi-party system, the CPP could make headway in the November 7, polls if the party is able to reach out to voters especially at the local level.

Mr Mohammed called on the party supporters and members to avoid internal wrangling and petty squabbles, come together, identify and help address the various challenges confronting the CPP.

He said elections are won at polling stations, and advised the parliamentary candidates to re-direct their attention and focus much on how best they could reach out to the grassroots.

Mr Mohammed appealed to Ghanaians to give another opportunity to the new CPP in the general election, saying it is only the CPP that could turn around the economic fortunes, and facilitate accelerated national development.

Mr Eben Agbenya, the Regional Secretary of the CPP, observed that uniting all the Nrkumaists parties has become necessary and that is why the party has initiated moves with the People’s National Convention to merge.

He said although there are several problems confronting and impeding the merger, the regional executives are working hard to address the challenges most especially leadership roles and responsibilities.

Mr Agbenya said the party has been able to acquire 21 offices in the region and is working to ensure that additional offices would be opened at the remaining constituencies, though those constituencies have no parliamentary candidates.
