Samuel Atta Mensah, Chief Executive of Accra-based Citi FM, wants the opposition NPP to make what he describes as a deliberate point to contain outspoken MP, Kennedy Agyapong before he gets out of control.

The NPP Member of Parliament for Assin North in the Central Region is not a stranger to controversies and has often been roundly condemned for badmouthing persons in high position.

Over the weekend, the maverick MP was reported to have accused the chairman of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei of exchanging sex for her position. Various statesmen and women have condemned his comments and have asked him to apologise unreservedly to the woman.

His posture however suggests that the apology would not come anytime soon. Kennedy Agyapong Interestingly, the unsavoury comments were made at the parliamentary campaign launch of another woman, Patricia Appiagyei who was once a victim of a sex for role allegation, leveled against her by the then NPP MP for Asokwa Maxwel kofi Jumah .

Weighing into the EC chairman’s situation on TV3’s New Day, Mr. Atta Mensah called on the New Patriotic Party to “show a deliberate point of condemning” Mr. Agyapong.

“We have to shame the man,” he insisted, “some people think it will favour them, but such statements do not favour anybody.”

He warned the party that if they fail to rein him in, it would get to a stage that it would be “almost impossible” for the NPP to control him especially when they come to power.

His outburst “should not be encouraged”, he reiterated, “we expect that Ghanaians will condemn this man” if he indeed uttered those “irresponsible” words.
